Final NWJHL Reg Season Game

February 8, 2013

It’s the final weekend of the NWJHL regular season and tonight features the final game of the 2012 -2013 season for your Grande Prairie JDA Kings. With first place secure and home ice advantage throughout the playoffs set the Kings don’t have much left to play for but there are still a few things of interest for the hockey team heading into tonights game.

16 game winning streak.

Formerly held by there predecessor the Grande Prairie Wheelers the JDA Kings are on the verge of tying a record of 16 straight wins and can do so tonight with a win over the Sexsmith Vipers in Sexsmith. 16 straight wins is a nice record to boast but more importantly the team won’t want to lose it’s final regular season game before heading into playoffs against the opponent they will be facing in the opening round.

The Vipers currently sit in the basement of the NWJHL standings and will look to hopefully set a tone tonight heading into game 1 of the NWJHL quarter finals starting Tuesday night in Grande Prairie. It hasn’t been an easy road for Sexsmith this season against the JDA Kings having been outscored 49 to 17 in the four games leading up to tonight.

News & Notes Game 1 of the NWJHL playoffs goes Tuesday night in Grande Prairie at 8:30pm. The entire schedule is as follows:

Game 1 Tuesday night in Grande Prairie 8:30pm
Game 2 Saturday night in Sexsmith 8:00 pm
Game 3 Sunday night in Grande Prairie 8:30 pm

Game 4 Wednesday night in Sexsmith 8:00pm (if necessary)
Game 5 Thursday night in Grande Prairie 8:30pm (if necessary)

Heading into tonights final regular season schedule the scoring race is still up for grabs. Kings forwards Nolan Trudeau and Lyndin Lewis are one/two with Trudeau having a slight one point lead. Tonight should determine who walks away with leagues Top Scorer.
