JDA Kings Can Advance Tonight
The 2012 – 2013 NWJHL playoff season is in full swing and the Grande Prairie JDA Kings have opened up a 2 to 0 series lead over the Sexsmith Vipers. Tonight the Kings could advance to the second round for the second consecutive season with a win. If last nights game is any indication however the Vipers won’t go down without a fight.
After an 11 to 2 drubbing in game one of the series Sexsmith found a way last night matching Grande Prairie goal for goal up until the final one was scored in overtime. It wasn’t pretty for Grande Prairie who currently remains perfect in OT (and shootouts) this season but it was a quick reminder that you have to be ready to play every night in the playoffs. Despite the 40+ point difference in the regular season standings the Vipers went goal for goal with the Kings not trailing to often and would.
As forward Nolan Trudeau would put the Kings ahead with just under five minutes to go the Vipers would tie it up with 18 seconds remaining on a goal by Josh Huber.
At the end of the day a win is a win regardless of how perfect it was. Grande Prairie has now put themselves to sweep the opening round on home ice when they host the Vipers tonight at the Coca Cola Centre beginning at 8:30 pm.
