JDA Kings Continue Dominance
The Grande Prairie JDA Kings made their first trek North to Sexsmith this evening and continued their dominance over the Sexsmith Vipers winning 9 to 2.
With both teams showing shorter then usual benches the game winning goal was scored a mere three minutes and ten seconds into the game. Grande Prairie struck for three goals in the first three minutes with the first of three coming a mere 40 seconds into the game on a goal from Sheldon McArthur. A minute ater Zack Mungal would make it 2 to 0 on a great individual effort, 11 seconds after that Nolan Trudeau made it three to nothing.
Grande Prairie never looked back.
Adding two more in the opening frame Grande Prairie would end the first up 5 to 1. The remaining 40 minutes after seemed to have little sizzle. Grande Prairie would add two in the second and two in the third pushing their tally to 9 while the Vipers would add just single in the second.
With the win Grande Prairie improves to a perfect 11 and 0 and currently sits alone in first place in the Northwest Junior Hockey League standings. Keeping pace, the North Peace Navigators scored a 6 to 2 home win over the Slave Lake Wolves on Friday night to stay within 6 points of the JDA Kings with one game in hand.
The only other game on Friday night in the NWJHL had the Fort St. John Flyers in Fairview. There was no update available.
Saturday night will be a busy one in the Northwest Junior Hockey League with 4 games on tap. The Grande Prairie JDA Kings will look to improve to 12 and 0 when they travel to Fort St. John on Saturday night, the last time these two teams met it was in Grande Prairie with the Kings walking away with a 6 to 3 win.
Not without a little adversity.
Grande Prairie would find themselves trailing 3 to 0 after the first before rallying for six straight enroute to the win. The Kings will have to fully expect much of the same effort from Fort St. John Saturday night.
