JDA Kings Visit Sexsmith
Looking for their eleventh straight win the Grande Prairie JDA Kings will look to build upon a highly successful month of October by replicating it with their first game of November with their first visit to Sexsmith for the 2012 – 2013 Northwest Junior Hockey League season.
Coming off a 12 to 2 win this past Tuesday over the Beaverlodge Blades Grande Prairie stretched their lead in the NWJHL standings over the idle North Peace Navigators to 6 points and will look to keep that pace in Sexsmith tonight. Similar to the arena in Beaverlodge the barn in Sexsmith hasn’t been an easy place for the JDA Kings to play in at times.
With this being the third meeting between both clubs and the first on home ice for Sexsmith a quick start is exactly what the Vipers will be after. With four losses in their previous five games the Vipers have slipped to fifth place in the NWJHL standings but still only sit two points back of Dawson Creek and Slave Lake. As is the case with most of the JDA Kings opponents lately a win tonight for Sexsmith would certainly help boost team morale.
The previous two meetings between the clubs have been anything but fun for Sexsmith. Both teams opened up the NWJHL regular season on September 21st in Grande Prairie which saw the Kings dominate in all facets of the game walking away with a 12 to 0 win. Mid-October both clubs would once again meet in Grande Prairie with the Kings winning 8 to 3. While still a five goal gap the Kings will have to be ready for the expected home ice boost the Vipers should receive.
If there is one saving grace to having to play in Sexsmith its the play of both Trudeaus. With both brothers having at some point worn a Sexsmith uniform the Kings forwards seem to bring some of their best hockey when they play in Sexsmith. Last season both combined for 13 points in the three games played north of Grande Prairie.
