Kings Back in the Win Column
The Kings came out firing on Thursday night at the Crosslink County Sportsplex registering 20 shots in the first period and jumpinh in front of Sexsmith with 4 goals to lead 4-0 after 1 period. Kelsey Bauman, Kyle Smeding, Corey Wamsteeker and Evan Tordiff all tallied in the period. Sexsmith had 6 shots in the period. The trend continued in the second period with the Kings outshooting the Vipers 25-1 and scoring 4 more goals to lead 8-0 after 40 minutes. Joel Wamsteeker (2), Donald Gaudreault and Mitch Stordy had the second period markers. The third period was a different story on the shot clock with the Vipers getting 13 shots while the Kings had 11 however the scoring was similar with the Kings scoring twice off the sticks of Corey Wamsteeker and Donald Gaudreault with each getting their second goals of the game. The game ended with a 10- victory for the home team. Kelsey Bauman and Joel Wamsteeker led the team with 1G-4A and 2G-2A respectively. Andy Gilker got the shutout between the pipes for the CGP JDA Kings.
The Kings next game is Saturday night at home as they host the Dawson Creek Jr. Canucks at 8pm at the Crosslink County Sportsplex. BOth games between the teams has been decided by one goal with the Kings winning both games. Kevin Henley who was an AP last season for the Kings and played full time in the playoffs and provincials will be back with the team and in the lineup.
The bleachers are fully licenced at all Kings games and the Penalty Box lounge is open to watch the game, have a bite to eat and enjoy a beverage or two.
