Kings Begin Title Defense Friday
Your Grande Prairie JDA Kings begin defense of the 2012-2013 NWJHL Championship tomorrow evening @ 8pm where they clinched their first ever Northwest Junior Hockey League title. The team with travel North to Peace River to begin the season with a strong returning core of players. However, the league’s leading scorer the past two season’s in Nolan Trudeau will not be on the ice as last year was his final season of junior eligibility. He will be there as an assistant coach as he accepted the role with the team this past summer and hopes he can pass on some of his offensive prowess.
The team features the return of Corey Wamsteeker from his adventure down south who was a league leader in points despite only playing half the season and hoping he will replace the lost offence of Nolan Trudeau. Connor Goudreau joins the team from Midget AAA in Grande Prairie as the starting goalie looking to makehis mark in junior hockey. The defence remains very similar to last season with 5 of the 6 defenceman being veterans of last years championship squad. And the teams leadership group of captain Devin Bell as well as assistants Daniel Bishop and Jared Burnett ready to lead the charge for the provincial hosts.
