Kings fall in OT – DHT
There’s no place like home, particularly at this juncture in the season for the County of Grande Prairie JDA Kings.
Playing on the road hasn’t been favourable for the Kings.
The Kings went 0-4 on their recent road swing, which concluded with a 3-2 overtime loss against the North Peace Navigators on Saturday in Peace River.
Saturday, Brock Clements and Donald Gaudreault scored for the Kings as they rallied from a 2-0 deficit. Swan City product Parker Sharp scored for the Peace River-based squad in OT. Kings goaltender Jeremi Blais turned aside 27 shots.
It hasn’t been easy against the Navs this season for the Kings. The Kings haven’t defeated the Navs in four meetings. They will, however, get a chance to on Dec. 5 at the Crosslink County Sportsplex in Clairmont.
The Kings’ recent four-game road trip included two losses against the Navs (3-2 and 2-1), as well as a 6-5 loss to the Fort St. John Huskies and 7-5 loss against the Sexsmith Vipers.
The road swing began after winning three of five during a homestand.
Through seven home games, the Kings are 4-3. Away from the Sportsplex, the Kings are 2-5.
The Kings’ four-game skid slides them into fourth in the NWJHL with a 6-7 record.
They’re back at the Sportsplex on Thursday to host the Vipers (7-5), who are coming off a 7-6 road loss against the Navs on Nov. 20.
The Kings then host the Fairview Flyers (16-1) on Nov. 28 and then travel to play the Beaverlodge Blades on Nov. 29.
