Kings host Fairview Flyers
A blanket of snow has hit the city of Grande Prairie the last few days but barring any last minute cancellations from bad weather conditions the Grande Prairie JDA Kings will play host to the Fairview Flyers for the first time in the teams existence. This won’t be the first time the clubs have met but it took awhile for both clubs to acquaint having met for the first time just one week ago today.
In that game the JDA Kings walked away with the win but it took a full 60 minute effort to do so. The club led 3 to 0 early on in the third period before Fairview added two to put the heat on in the final few moments. Luckily the Kings outlasted and gained a much needed two points.
Tonights game will mark the second of the week for both hockey clubs. Grande Prairie is coming off a 9 to 3 win over the Dawson Creek Jr. Canucks on Tuesday night. That game featured the debut of two new Kings players, Adam Hodge and Connor Tetlock, both of which made immediate impacts. Grande Prairie hasn’t been on the ice since which may play a disadvantage. The Fairview Flyers on the other hand are coming off a shootout loss last night to the Fort St. John Huskies.
Game time tonight is scheduled for 8:30 pm at the Coca Cola Centre
Other Notes: With the start of December underway it means that all junior hockey clubs must reduce their rosters to 25. December 1st marks the first of two Junior cut downs across Canada. No news has been released from the JDA Kings camp. The hockey club currently sits at 25 but it’s expected for some moves to be made to free up roster spots prior to the deadline. The next cut down date will take place January 10th where all Junior teams across the country are expected to reduce their roster to no more then 23 players, two of which must be goalies.
