Kings Knock off Flyers in OT
Your County of Grande Prairie JDA Kings came out on top of a back and forth battle on Saturday night in Fairview. The winner came off the stick of defenceman Kyle Lipinski on a penalty shot in overtime after the league’s leader in points Doug Morris lost his edge and reached out and pulled the puck under his glove towards his body resulting in an automatic penalty shot.
Kyle Lipinski enjoys a winner and the 19-year-old Grande Prairie native, who won a Junior A championship with the Fort Francis Lakers last year, got himself another winner Saturday night in North West Junior Hockey League action in Fairview.
Lipinski, who played Junior A hockey in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League in 2012-2013 before joining his brothers Bryce and Lyndon with the championship Lakers of the Superior International Junior Hockey League last season, netted the game winner on a penalty shot in overtime Saturday.
The OT tally gave his County of Grande Prairie JDA Kings a 4-3 win over the host Flyers and finished off a game that saw the County club come from behind 1-0, 2-1 and 3-2 deficits to pull off their third win in four tries.
