Kings Open With Win
The Grande Prairie JDA Kings kicked off the 2012 – 2013 NWJHL playoffs with a bang by starting their opening round best of five series with a big 11 to 3 win over the visiting Sexsmith Vipers. It was another long line of impressive win over the Vipers for the Kings who did so by committee Tuesday night at the Coca Cola Centre.
Only three players managed to miss the score sheet Tuesday night in the win with Kings forward Lyndin Lewis leading the charge tallying five points. Rookie forward Joel Wamsteeker had perhaps his best game as a Grande Prairie JDA King adding 2 goals and 2 assists.
With the game quickly getting out of hand on the scoreboard penalties filled the last half of the game as both clubs combined for a total of 90 penalty minutes the entire night.
The win gives the JDA Kings a 1 to 0 lead in the series with games two and three going this weekend. Game two will take place in Sexsmith Saturday night beginning at 8:00 pm with game three the following evening back in Grande Prairie at 8:30pm.
