Kings Post Weekend Wins

JDA County Kings

The County of Grande Prairie JDA Kings posted a pair of 5-1 victories over the weekend against the Sexsmith Vipers and North Peace Navigators.

Forward Kelsey Bauman led the Kings with two goals and an assist in their season home opener Friday at the Crosslink County Sportsplex against the Vipers.

Zach Bennett, Daylan Morgan and Taylor Lileikis were the other goal scorers. Goaltender Dalyn Haire picked up the win with 28 saves.

Saturday in Peace River, forwards Darrel Hewko and Tyrone Kipling each scored twice in the 5-1 win, despite being outshot 39-23 by the Navs. Forward Kyle Smeding scored the Kings’ other goal and Zach Bennett had three assists. Haire turned aside 38 shots.

The Kings (3-0) play their next four games on the road with two against Beaverlodge (Oct. 5 & Oct. 9), along with a game in Dawson Creek (Oct. 7) and Fort St. John (Oct. 14). Their next home game is Oct. 15 against the North Peace Navigators.
