Kings Ready for 3 in 4 On Final Weekend
Your County of Grande Prairie JDA have been hard at work this week preparing for their final weekend of regular season play that sees them host Beaverlodge (8:30pm) on Thursday and Dawson Creek (8pm) on Saturday prior to once again meeting in Sexsmith with the Vipers on Sunday afternoon at 2pm.
The Kings are looking to have a good weekend to lock up the third seed for the playoffs after defeating the Vipers last Sunday afternoon 10-2 in Sexsmith in front of a largely pro Kings crowd. Presently the Fort. St. John Huskies hold the third place position one point ahead of the Kings however only have two games remaining and both are against the North Peace Navigators who with a pair of wins will secure the first place seed and a first round bye in the playoffs. The Huskies do have the benefit of playing both games at home.
The Kings remaining games are versus the 7th, 6th and 5th place teams which bodes well however as we have seen in the league this season anyone can defeat anyone on any given night this season and the Kings will not want to come into the weekend expecting three easy victories. Coach & GM Kyle Chapple is expecting his team to come out prepared and fired up on Thursday looking to jump into the third place position and not relinquish however has reminded his club that they have to work for every victory and not to take anything for granted. Chapple says ” He’s is expecting his troops will be ready and hoping to get on a roll just in time for the playoff’s as confidence is huge at this time of year.
The Kings are hoping to have a couple of large crowds for their last two home games of the regular season to build momentum heading into the post season. The Kings once again are excited to bring playoff hockey and a winning tradition to the city and immediate area this season.

Eastlink TV is broadcasting Thursday Nights game versus the Beaverlodge Blades and is tentativly planning to broadcast some playoff games live however at this point until the opponent and schedule is determined nothing is definitive.
