Kings Starting to Find Groove – Logan Clow DHT
Another pair of wins for the County of Grande Prairie JDA Kings in NWJHL action has them poised for a strong post-Christmas campaign.
A 10-2 win over the Beaverlodge Blades Thursday and a 4-1 win over Dawson Creek, both at the County Crosslink Centre, have the team in solid third place on 29 points 7 ahead of Fort St. John in fourth.
Meanwhile there is now a dead heat atop the league with Fairview and Peace River tied on 42 points.
Thursday’s game was unique in that of 10 goals only Joel Wamsteeker had a pair, the rest were all singles: Taylor Lilekis, Kelsey Bauman, Dee Gaudreault, Kevin Henley, Wyatt Lawrence, Tyrone Kipling, Brock Clements and Zach Bennett all found the net.
Devon Moulds and former King Evan Tordiff scored for the Blades.
Jeremy Blais picked up the win for Grande Prairie.
Saturday was a tougher test, with a 4-1 win over the Canucks which included an empty netter by Bauman.
Keean McLeod, Linden Dykens and Daryl Hewko scored for GP. Ryan McCallon scored for Dawson.
Both goalies faced 36 shots, Josh Round for the B.C. crew, and recently returned Andy Gilker for the Kings.
The team is now on Christmas break until Jan. 2 when they host the Fairview Flyers at 8p.m. at the County Crosslink Centre.
