KINGS TAKE OVER NWJHL LEAD WITH WIN OVER HUSKIES
The Grande Prairie JDA Kings, won a thriller in Fort St. John last night, with a 4-3 win to take the NWJHL league lead with a 4-0 record (holding a game in hand on the now 4-1 Huskies).
Midway through the game, the Kings held a 17-8 shots edge, but the Huskies came on heavy to mount a near comeback late. The til definitely lived up to the hype of the last two undefeated clubs facing off, and then some! Huskies outshot 22-15 for 2nd half of game for a 32-30 Kings edge after 60 minutes.
Kings assistant captain Daniel Bishop scored again, in his 4th straight game to start the season, and continues to hold the league lead in the early NWJHL scoring race with 13 points (7G, 6A) in 4 games. Ryan Trudeau picked up a goal and assist, with his 5th goal in 2 games, and Corey Wamsteeker picked up 2 goals to round out the Kings goal scoring. A great goaltending duel also, between Kings’ Connor Goudreau (stopping 27/30) & Huskies Travis McLean (stopping 28/32).
Kings back in action Tuesday at 8:30pm hosting the Sexsmith Vipers at the Coca-Cola Centre, then back on the road Friday night for an 8pm match in Beaverlodge vs the Blades! Come on out, and support your hometown team!
