Up and Down Weekend for Kings

November 18, 2013

Your JDA Kings had an up and down weekend this past few days. The team braved the terrible weather and roads on Friday night to head to Dawson Creek to battle with the Jr. Canucks. The team arrived later than usual just in time to get ready for warmup. They were also missing defenceman Morgan Eaton to Concussion after being hit from behind Tuesday versus Sexmsith and Kevin Garner after he came to the defence of Eaton after the incident. Despite this the team battled to a 7-3 victory being led by Ryan Trudeau who had 2G-3A= 5pts and Daniel Bishop who recorded a hat trick. Sky Buller got the win in net.

Saturday night was a much different story as the team fought hard against the FSJ Huskies but were unable to overcome being shorthanded for half of the game against a good hockey club. Unfortunately it was evident based on the response from the majority of people in the building that night that the official had it in for the home team before the puck had dropped. The Huskies scored three goals on 5, 2 man advantage opportunities and were able to maintain the momentum as the parade to the penalty box continued until late in the game when they received a few penalties. The Kings were unable to capitalize as a number of players had been kicked out of the game. The loss as the Kings first in regulation this season and their only 2 losses have come in the last 4 games.

The team has gone through some adversity in the last week or so which usually proves beneficial in the long term and it is well known that teams get closer as a group and stronger if they have to battle through adverse times throughout the season. The theory will be put to the test quickly as the second place North Peace Navigators come to town on Thursday night.

The boys are looking for your support at 8:30pm at the Coke Centre Thursday Night. See you there! Nov 16 2013 356
